Facial Skin Care

There are a lot of expensive anti-aging creams, moisturizers, lotions, serums, exfoliators, and cleansers available but do you know that you can still enjoy the same benefit even if you just buy cheap ones? Because a lot of them just contain the same ingredient, you just have to know your skin type so that they will glow with the right product.
Let’s tackle first bar soaps and liquid cleanser. To avoid drying your skin, refrain from using bar soaps, because they may not be good on your skin as it causes irritation. This is due to higher PH that are being used in bar soaps to hold a bar together. This may cause long term bad effect on your skin’s health and look. Liquid facial cleansers and foaming products are less harsh to your skin. To help your skin retain its moisture, use liquid facial cleanser that contains lipids called ceramides. When you really persist on bar soap, avoid those which contains sodium lauryl sulfate which causes to dry your skin. Instead, find a moisturizing soap and choose which contains ingredients like glycerin and plant-based oils. For oily skin or those with acne, it is advised to use cleanser which contains salicylic acid, to remove skin dead cells or benzoyl peroxide to unclog pores.
Now, let’s move on to anti-aging creams. Use creams containing retinoids. They minimize the appearance of wrinkles, it strengthen skin’s thickness and elasticity, slow the breakdown of collagen, which helps keep skin firm, and lighten brown spots caused by sun exposure. Retinoids typically cause peeling and redness in your first few weeks of use but don’t worry, they do not makes your skin thin, they actually thicken them. For brown spots, that distracts your even skin tone, retinoids bog them off and control the production of melanin, one that darkens your skin. Another form of retinoid that you can get without prescription is Retinaldehyde, this is very effective in rejuvenating older skin.
As to moisturizers, you must first identify your skin type. For normal skin, meaning not too dry and not too oily, use a water based moisturizer that has a light, non-greasy feel. Therefore, choose moisturizers which contains cyclomethicone and other lightweight oils or silicone-derived ingredients. For dry skin, you must restore its moisture, so you have to choose a heavier oil-based moisturizer which contains ingredients that help your skin keep hydrated. Petroleum-based products are also preferable for dry skin because they contain more staying power than creams and are more effective at preventing water from evaporating from skin which causes its dryness. For oily skin, choose a water based product that is labeled noncomedogenic , which means it won’t clog pores because this type of skin is prone to acne and breakouts. Although oily, it still needs to be moisturized specially after using skin care product that remove oils and leaves your skin dry. For sensitive skin, it is prone to skin irritation, redness, itching or rashes., so you must look for a moisturizer that contains soothing ingredients like chamomile and aloe, be careful it does not contain potential allergens such as dyes. Avoid product which contains acid that can irritate your skin. For mature skin, they tend to become drier as their oil-producing glands become less active. So you must use an oil based moisturizer that contains base that is petroleum along with antioxidants or alpha hydroxy acids to fight wrinkles. These ingredients help hold in moisture and prevent flaky, scaly skin.
